Abstract
Historical knowledge of the invention of “auricular confession”, its extension and its iron will in the Medieval life of the Roman Catholic Church is a highly instructive aspect in order to understand the evolutionary processes of religious phenomena and their intertwining with political power, at the same time as the distancing from evangelical sources is confirmed together with the dissimilar traditions and the undeniable intrinsic relativism in these types of processes.
