Abstract

The complexity of the Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy: Propositions for Therapeutic Educational Interventions. Peripheral Diabetic Neuropathy is undoubtly a major health problem. The existence of different perceptions between the health care provider and the patient about the development process of the foot ulcer limits the efficacy of the prevention strategies or the healing process. To improve the understanding of the meaning of loosing the lower limb sensitivity, we suggest therapeutic educative interventions to help the patient to develop some hallmarks to make decisions regarding the preventive strategies and to better collaborate with the team members. Whether they are developed during the outpatient consultation or in a diabetic group education session, these interventions needs to be repeated periodically to enhance the prevention of foot ulcer or the healing process.
