Abstract

To ensure coherence of vegetation surveys and habitats mapping in the special areas of conservation earmarked for the future Natura 2000 network, a standard method has been established in Brittany. This approach seeks to harmonise habitats classification, survey scales and methods as well as structuration of a geographical data base. The results which can be obtained are illustrated by the example of maritime heathlands mapping in two Natura 2000 sites, the isle of Groix and Crozon peninsula.
