Abstract

The chapel of the Venerable Third Order erected in the convent of San Antonio of Padua of Seville got to count on two main altarpieces: from the first one, arranged by the assembler Francisco Jimenez de la Barrera in 1643, survives in a particular collection the image of San Francisco de Asis that carved the ignored sculptor Juan de Contreras in 1645; the second one, articulated already by estipites, was commited to the architect of altarpieces Diego Jimenez in 1738. This latter was donated by the count of Galvez in 1962 to the capilla de los marineros, in Triana, using its structural and decorative elements to construct a pair of altars presided by the sculptures of the Cristo de las Tres Caidas and San Juan Evangelista
