Abstract

In his contribution, the author moves from the performative character of Rousseau’s philosophical and literary production by focusing on the intertwining of autobiographical dimension and theoretical reflection that is always in the background of the Rousseau’s work. To show the originality of Rousseau's philosophical gesture the Author sketchs a comparison with Descartes that shows the anti-razionalistic character of Rousseau’s interiorism, but also the common need to break with the previous philosophy. The model of reading to his own inner life, the place of revelation of the truth, opens with Rousseau to a search of sincerity and authenticity that clashes with the paradoxes of lies and masking. In this perspective, the truth extracted from the dark room of interiority already has the characters of the narrative truth, as it has been conceived by Proust more than a century later.
