Abstract
This article addresses School Self-Assessments with both an inwards and outwards purview of the school. It reflects on various aspects including external and internal assessments from a management standpoint as well as items the school must focus on when preparing a self-assessment. It also looks at the ethical and political commitments of school administrators when preparing a school review, the end objective being the school´s improvement. The main objective is to determine which self-assessment goes beyond items related to mere learning and contemplates aspects such as values, perceptions and community beliefs about school management, thereby, integrating a social-critical reflection as part of the assessment. Lastly, when carrying out a self-assessment, administrative staff and teaching faculty may proposes problems that the school needs to resolve. Yet, it is advised that this must not be confused with oversight or internal control aspects.
