Abstract
La enfermedad de Carrión o Verruga Peruana viene siendo, de tiempo atrás, un fértil campo de estudio para investigadores nacionales y extranjeros. Su distribución geográfica restringida; la naturaleza controversial de algunas de sus fases clínicas y patológicas; el heroico sacrificio de Daniel A. Carrión, joven estudiante de Medicina, quien dió vida en un esfuerzo por dilucidar problemas de carácter fundamental; y la intensa anemia, única en muchos de sus caracteres, que se desarrolla en un apreciable número de casos, explican el porqué del interés investigador por este proceso.
