Abstract

The five sections of this report focus on defining the nature of noise emitted from pipe carrying high-velocity flow and prescribing methods for suppression or elimination of such noise. The contents of each section are as follows:Section I - sources of noise, means of propagation, and acceptable methods for the control of sound and vibration.Section II - results of field tests to analyze and characterize noise at regulating and metering stations.Section III - results of laboratory and field tests of various methods of noise abatementSection IV - a summary of factors that influence the acoustical behavior of regulator stations.Section V - procedures for designing gas stream acoustic filters suitable for use in the field.
