Abstract
To assess the role of hypogonadism during osteopenia in anorexia nervosa, the authors analyzed retrospectively the bone mineral changes in 21 patients. Two groups are distinct, with and without change in bone mineral density of the lumbar spine. Duration of anorexia and body mass index are not significant predictors of change in bone density but sexual steroids may have an effect on this.
