Abstract

<titre/> The basic idea behind this paper is the analysis of the complement of some French verbs such as vivre or dormir. As the complement of these verbs, which integrate all or some morphological and/or semantic features of the verb that monitors it, scholars contend about its syntactic function. In fact some theoretical approaches hesitate about its definition and classification. In our view, this complement must be considered a direct object complement and a new analysis is proposed so as to provide such an evidence. By studying the basic properties and features of this complement we conclude that there is no reason to consider it as a cognate object, but a full direct object complement.
