Abstract

This article deals with problems of teaching/learning French in Sudan. In particular, we try to shed the light on the necessity of using an intercultural approach as a methodological base to rethink both French language teaching/learning objectives and the specific Sudanese context. Our method, in this paper, is basically applied in written texts used as a support in our classes of language, considering that texts are usually very culture-coded. This work is largely inspired by our field experience as French language teachers in Sudan. Besides, regarding the recent tendencies concerning the renewal of methods and approaches in teaching/learning foreign languages, the present paper is tended to be a humble contribution in the same direction. Our intention is thus to go beyond the narrower perspectives of a simple adoption of the ready-made methods that might not fit in specific Sudanese context.
