Abstract

Although the United States is the sole superpower at the beginning of the 21st century, all of its extravagantly funded national security organizations, including the misnamed Department of the Defense (DOD), the National Security Agency (NSA), the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), failed to protect the nation on September 11, 2001 despite their possession of critical information that would have helped to protect the nation had it been shared. Ironically, many of those who through incompetence or negligence failed to share the information were promoted and their employing agencies received increased budgets and responsibilities encouraging them to undertake activities to protect the budgets if not the nation by creating the illusion of security.
