Abstract
Single crystal of semi-organic L-Histidinium iodide (LHI) was grown by slow evaporation technique. Single crystal X-ray diffraction study confirms that the LHI crystallizes in monoclinic crystal system with space group P21. The functional groups in a LHI molecule were characterized by infrared and Raman spectra. The UV–Vis–NIR absorption spectrum of the grown LHI crystal was recorded and the band gap energy of the crystal was calculated and it is 3.75 eV. Fluorescence spectroscopy throws light on the optical emission properties.TG-DSC analysis indicate that the LHI crystal was stable up to 254.8 °C. The second harmonic generation behavior of the grown LHI crystal was tested by Kurtz-Perry powder technique.
