Abstract

This herbarium is the surviving evidence of eighty years of life : reflecting a passion soon felt, never denied. Three series of herbarium specimens have been selected. The first ones collected from Aubervilliers, l'lle-Saint-Denis, Gennevilliers, in the former Seine department when Paul JOVET was a teacher (1920-1931). The second ones are from Paris intra inuroj, and from some other localities of the former Seine department (1940-1951). The last ones are plants collected in his garden at 18, rue Caron and these from Athis-Mons and Ablon, south of Paris (1958-1972). Computerization allows to analyse a lot of specimens through their labels, and to get accounts on the more particularly studied habitats and collected species. Some recurrences illustrate Paul JoVETs attachment for infiltrated exotic species and their story, and for the so-called trivial ones. They are also the expression of his concern to nature conservancy. Studying first the reasons of today's interest for these collections and the methodology of their processing, one then trying to understand the role played by the herbarium in Paul Jovets research. Finally different enhanced values for this national heritage a reconsidered.
