Abstract

Human granulocytic anaplasmosis caused by Anaplasma phagocytophilum is an emergent disease in Europe. It occurs in all Lyme disease endemic areas because the same vector (Ixodes tick) can transmit Borrelia, Anaplasma. The diagnosis should be considered for a patient with tick exposure who presents non spécific symptoms such as fever, headache, myalgies and abnormal laboratory features (leukopenia, thrombocytopenia and/or elevation of liver enzyme levels). The treatment of choice is doxycycline.
