Abstract

In the past few years, there has been an increasing importance of politics in the day-to-day life of immigrants. This relates to what one might describe as a "politicisation of the non political phenomenons" which results from the obligation of strict neutrality which applies to them. Meanwhile, information about new long-term immigration processes which transform migration trends into specific settled minority groups, demand the adoption of a new approach for political analysis of migrations : a political dimension appears, jointly related to the progressive insertion of migrant workers into politics, but also to the reactions of decision-makers to this situation. In this context, how can we draw the limits of the migrant workers' environment ? It appears specific, both closed and diffuse, depending on the kind of actors which relates to it. Its fluctuations correspond to changing realities in accordance with time, but also with the nationalities concerned. For how long will it be possible to talk about specific political spaces if the European receiving countries register such minority phenomenons at home ? These minorities, one may argue, could well constitute sometime in the future pressure groups within the French political system itself.
