Abstract

Disturbances of the parental function (dysparentality) in mentally ill parents can endanger their children psychically or physically. Separation with admission of the child in a therapeutic foster care center may be decided by the judge, so as to allow a treatment for the child and the parent child relation. In this account of a foster care center practice, we analyze the psychopathological processes distorting the parental function, their impact on the child psychic development and the working through of the object relation during mediatized parent and child encounters supported in a specific way by therapeutic accompaniment.
