Abstract
Jean Sgard : Prevost's complete works. The building of a text does not merely consist in revealing a latent image ; the editor takes part in the elaboration of the text, for which he gives a new image among others. Taking the edition of Prevost's works (now in progress) as an illustration, J. S. analyses the critical processes performed by the editor : selection of the works, working out of the plan of the issue, norms of the elaboration of the text, system of foot-notes.
