Abstract

The aim of this article is to study the use of parallelism and antithesis in the poem of Rutilius Namatianus. The single passages are discussed in relation to the structure of elegiac distic, the literaiy patterns are quoted. De reditu suo is full of antitheses between two distics, or between hexameter and pentameter, or between the emistics of each verse, because the poet plays upon the feature of the metre. These considerations allow to solve some problems of textual critic.
