Abstract

Economic growth has long been the subject of special attention of academic and general public. It is a complex phenomenon, which, in addition to the quantitative, also has its qualitative side. e idea of the quality of economic growth has a long history, but its full significance has come to the fore only in recent times, especially with the affirmation of the concept of sustainable development. Quality of economic growth is a multidimensional concept that respects economic, social and environmental aspects of growth. From the point of view of the quality of growth, the economic basis on which that growth is based is important, but also its social efficiency and environmental acceptability. Quality economic growth is by its nature stable and self-sustaining, while poor quality growth does not create conditions for self-preservation, but, on the contrary, undermines the foundations of increasing production in the future. Various methods for measuring multidimensional concepts such as growth quality have been developed in the literature. e most commonly used composite indices have their pros and cons. e paper emphasizes two composite growth quality indices - the Growth Quality Index and the Inclusive Green Growth Index, which are an important step in the right direction.
