KUTADGU BİLİG'İN SUÇ İŞLEME MOTİVASYONUN

Abstract

A nation which is described in Turkish dictionary as a folk or a community who lives in the same land and become united around language, history, emotion, ideal, and tradition, can only reach a position where it owns features which are peculiar to itself by having values and transferring those values to generations. With this way, a nation can be freed from becoming a pile. In this position, every individual can be able to understand the life with the values that he/she has, able to stay away from any crime and perversion at utmost and able to act according to society’s norms. At this scope, value classifications which are progressed before (value classification of M. Rokeach, Schwartz, Akbas) are investigated. In these classifications, love (as love was celebrated as “Yunus Emre Love Year” in 1990 by UNESCO and it is a universal value), respect values are taken into consideration. Also, a value list is made by adding patience, trust, opinion, and gratitude which have a great importance in Turkish and Islamic cultures with the side of those two values: love and respect. After that “Kutadgu Bilig “ of Yusuf Has Hacip is chosen as a sample since it was predicted as the book may contain appropriate values for this work of rebuilding of human values since Kutadgu Bilig is the first advice, political, didactic and allegorical book of Turkish literature. Within the light of social norms, it is accepted that perversion is defined as any behavior which is no longer acceptable and crime is defined as any action which is permitted by law and has a punishment in return. Experts emphasize that there should be an urge and condition to commit a crime. That is why crime rate in Turkey is taken from the website of TUIK which is “tuik.gov.tr” and the things may cause a fall in the perpetration motivation and the mentioned values are matched. The investigation is carried on according to descriptive research. Document review method which is used for analyzing written documents as a tool to collect data is decided to be used in this investigation. Since the data are obtained by document review, put forth systematically and commented, the data are analyzed by descriptive analysis. After producing a frame according to data, deciding theme, defining and commenting on the discoveries, the results of the research is put forth. There are advices on how the lines of Kutadgu Bilig which contain the values of love, respect, patience, trust, opinion and gratitude can help to decrease the perpetration motivation.
