Abstract
The James B. Macelwane Medal for significant contributions to the geophysical sciences by a young scientist of outstanding ability was presented to Eric Kunze at the 1992 AGU Fall Meeting Honors Ceremony on December 9, 1992. The meeting was held in San Francisco. The award citation, delivered by Ray Schmitt, as well as Kunze's response, are presented here.“I am grateful to the American Geophysical Union for this opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and substantial scientific contributions of Eric Kunze. I know that formal public acclaim is not his favorite pastime, as he is an instinctively modest person, and I particularly relish this occasion to give him a well‐deserved honor.
