Abstract

The wave propagation and communication experiments using SIRIO-1 satellite were performed during the Sino-Italian cooperative experimental campaign in 1983–1984 in an Earth station in Beijing. The main research topics included down-link rain attenuation at 11.5 GHz, correlation between attenuation and rainfall rate, attenuation rate, frequence scaling between 11.5 and 17.1 GHz, microwave radiometer and amplitude scintillation phenomenon. The results are outlined and some conclusions are drawn.
