Abstract

Endoscopic treatment using KTP/YAG laser equipment was performed on two patients of anastomotic stenosis and one patient of gastric ATP. The coagulation and cutting abilities of KTP laser and Nd; YAG laser against the gastric mucosa were examined in Wister rats experimentally. The name of KTP is the abbreviation of KTiOPO4, which converts the Nd; YAG laser ray (wave lengs of 1064nm) to KTP laser ray (wave lengs of 532nm). Three different sizes of quartz fiber are avairable, which diameters are 0.3, 0.4 and 0.6mm. We can maintain these fibers easly by cutting the tip at once. Both KTP and Nd; YAG laser rays were conducted through this fiber. The power of Nd; YAG laser was 5-60w, and that of KTP laser was 0.5-20w. The cuttng ability of KTP laser was very high without any bleeding. The quartz fiber which diameter of 0.3mm was very usefull to handle. In the experiment, the coagulation layer was very thin and the cut end was up to the submucosal layer with 3 watts second irradiation of KTP laser in rat. On the other hand, coagulation layer was thick and the cut end was up to the submucosal layer with 10 watts second of Nd; YAG laser irradiation.
