Abstract
Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the outcomes of percutaneous transhepatic cholangioscopic lithotripsy (PTCS-L) using laser at Bai Chay Hospital. Patients and Method: Our study conducted 55 patients who have biliary stones intrahepatic and intra common bile duct and underwent PTCS-L from January 2021 to June 2023. Results: In this study, 55 patients were enrolled with the average age of the patients was 59.4 ± 16.4 years old, with a female-to-male ratio of 1.6:1. Clearance totally of stones in 45 patients (81,8%) and nearly clearance in 10 patients (18,2%). The mean procedure time for lithotripsy was 106 ± 51 minutes, and the average length of hospital stay was 17.4 ± 7.2 days. Complications accounting for 6 cases (10.9%), including pleural effusion, subcapsular biloma, and residual stone impaction. Bilirubin stones were found in all patients, and positive bile fluid culture rate in bacterial culture results in 85.2% cases. Conclusion: Based on the findings, percutaneous transhepatic cholangioscopic lithotripsy using laser was confirmed to be an effective and safe in treatment of biliary stones.
