Abstract

Purpose – Theory of Constraints, which is one of the ways of process development, can be applied to all sectors and all processes in an enterprise. Theory of Constraints, which is one of the ways of process development, can be applied to all sectors and all processes in an enterprise. In this study, it is tried to determine how the decision making process should be changed in order to prevent the increase in the rates of leaving from the individual pension system, applying the Thinking Processes in Theory of Constraints. The constraints over the current situation affecting the rates of exits of the individual pension system have been examined. Design/methodology/approach – Thinking Processes in Theory of Constraints were applied to the surveys which are designed measure the perception of participants leaving the individual pension system, undertaken by Research and Survey Center of Pension Monitoring Center. Interviews conducted with 629 individual pension system participants between the dates of 01.01.2019-31.03.2019 were taken into consideration. Findings – Root causes of leaving the system have been reached and the ideas about how to change and how to overcome the constraints have been presented. Discussion – The current situation was determined with the Current Reality Tree of the Thinking Process, and the root causes were found then injections were made on how to destroy them with the Evaporating Cloud tool. Objectives are shown through the Future Reality Tree. It is explained in the Prerequisite and Transition Trees how to change the negative impacts to the desired possible effects. All suggestions regarding the sustainability of the system and to shed light on future studies are shared in the conclusion section.
