Abstract
In this volume, the idea of the body and corporeality in the philosophy of late antiquity is examined. It deals with questions of ontology, mathematics, physics, astronomy, biology, anthropology, politics, theology and aesthetics. The importance of the topic results both from its historical relevance (for the visual arts, literature, the specialist sciences, religion and general cultural history) as well as its philosophical importance. From a philosophical point of view the late antique reflection on corporeality contains an impressive array of meanings discussed in this volume.
