Abstract
In this article it is aimed to analyse of alternative Iranian movies in terms of dominance of Hollywood movies on the national cinemas in global manner. Iranian movies have very unique specialities and functions concerning with their positions in the world cinema. Particularly in this article it is focused on the successful Iranian movies in the international festivals such as Where is My Friend's House, Baran, Apple, Passenger from South, The Taste of Cherry, Ten, Time of the Drunken Horses, Turtles can Fly and Under the Olive Trees and they are called alternative Iranian movies as well. They stands very opposite place of Hollywood movies in terms of their particular dramatical components such as stories, characters, characters' dramatic purposes, and technical filmic elements such as length of shots, montage, music and also the production logic of Iranian movies is very different than so many countries' industrial way of production. They are very important and unique samples for discussing national cinema, Hollywood and alternative movie's production together with international festival circuit and their supportive effects on national cinemas as well.
