Abstract

Kounis syndrome (KS) or “allergic angina” has been defined as “the coincidental occurrence of chest pain and allergic reactions accompanied by clinical and laboratory findings of classical angina pectoris caused by inflammatory mediators released during the allergic insult” [1]. Beta-lactams are one of the most frequently used pharmacological groups in daily clinical practice. Allergy to this group of drugs is the first cause of drug allergy worldwide [2]. Within the beta-lactams, amoxicillin is also the most commonly used antibiotic and the leading cause of allergy among the group.
