Abstract

This research examines the involvement of women who work as farmers with the aim of improving the welfare of their families in Sipea-Pea Village, West Sorkam District, Central Tapanuli Regency. This study aims to determine how the contribution of women farmers to the socio-economic welfare of the family. This research is classified as descriptive research with the aim of describing or describing the objects and phenomena studied. The number of research informants in this study were five people, namely women who had worked in agriculture for at least 5 years, had dependents, husbands did not work in the agricultural sector, and had a maximum of 1 hectare of land. Based on the analysis conducted, the results of this study indicate the contribution of women farmers to the socio-economic welfare of the family. Seen from welfare indicators, namely, income, education, clothing, food, housing, administration, health and interaction. Another thing that can be seen that women farmers have a contribution in improving the socio-economic welfare of the family are, (1) The role of women farmers in the household such as taking care of children, cooking, washing and so on. (2) The contribution of women farmers in the management of agricultural land which is almost entirely done by women farmers, the results are used for daily needs and saved for urgent needs and children's education, and (3) Contribution of women farmers in the community.
