Abstract

Lately, tolerance in our country has become a serious issue, with increasing incidents of intolerance both among religious communities and within the same religious groups. The Qur'an, in its textual interpretation, indirectly contributes to various recent cases. This research aims to contextualize attitudes of tolerance and religiosity within the Qur'an, focusing on a thematic interpretation study of verses related to religious coercion. In this study, we consider the thoughts of two Qur'anic interpreters. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a literature review approach. Data were collected from the chosen interpretations and analyzed using descriptive analysis methods. The research findings are classified into two main parts: understanding and interpretation of verses related to religious coercion, as well as the implications of tolerance and religiosity in Islam based on the analysis of the two selected interpretations.
