Abstract

This article raises research on how the Riau Pos and Tribun Pekanbaru newspapers construct news of the Tunas Bangsa Foundation that was rife in Indonesia. The construction of reality by the mass media becomes an object that is analyzed by drawing two problem identification. First, the news framing structure uses the Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki framing analysis methods. Secondly, the ideology of each media towards the news being studied is based on the political economy of the media. The results of the first study, showed the syntactic, script, thematic, and rhetorical framing structures of the two media. The results of the second study showed the commodification and spatization of the two media from the perspective of media political economy theory.
