Abstract

As a scientific discipline, Psychology has been developing and providing benefits for human walfare. Among Muslims, studies of human psychology have been carried out by Muslim scientists in the Middle Ages. Since the 50s, the Islamization of psychology movement emerged. Different from Western Psychology, the source of knowledge for Islamic Psychology also involves extracting information from religious texts, namely the Quran and Hadith. However, the development of Islamic Psychology is relatively slow due to the lack of research. In addition, Islamic Psychology research is still dominated by the use of qualitative approaches and literature studies. There is still limited Islamic Psychology research that uses a quantitative approach. In quantitative research, instruments are needed to collect data. Generally, the instrument is a psychological measurement tool in the form of a questionnaire. There are a number of challenges in the preparation of Islamic Psychology measurement tools, one of which is developing a measuring instrument that avoids social desirability bias. This article aims to describe a variety of strategies for developing valid, reliable, and psychological psychology measurement tools and avoiding social desirability bias.
