Abstract

We studied the physical properties of isostructural CeRhX (X = Bi,Sb,As) series systematically. The experimental results show that CeRhBi is a metallic dense Kondo compound with large electronic specific heat coefficient γ value ( C/ T ∼ 500 mJ/mol K 2 at 2 K). Using the impurity Kondo model with J = 1 2 for the magnetic contribution to the specific heat, the Kondo temperature T K of CeRhBi is estimated to be about 9 K. LaRhBi, a reference compound for CeRhBi, is a superconductor with transition temperature of about 2.4 K. The ratio ΔC/ γT C where ΔC is the specific heat jump at T C is calculated to be about 1.25, which is compared to the BCS value of 1.43.
