Abstract

Sheikh Jalaludin is a village religion teacher who has succeeded in changing the custom of the Bekatak Sekubang in Merantau Village, Padang Ulak Tanding, Rejang Lebong. It is interesting to see how competent he is as a teacher. The type of research used in this research is field research using a qualitative descriptive approach. The study will be conducted precisely in Karang Baru Village (formerly Merantau Village), Padang Ulak Tanding District, Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu Province. Primary data sources data directly collected by researchers from the first source. The heads are community leaders, Imams, the chairman of the Customary Consultative Body (BMA), and those who keep and know the history of Sheikh Jalaluddin. In exploring sources, researchers used to interview and documentation techniques. This research shows that his competence supports the success of Sheikh Jalaludin in educating the Merantau community as a professional teacher. These competencies are pedagogic, personality, professional, and social competencies.
