Abstract
Teacher is one crucial part in teaching and learning proces. Consequently, a competent teacher is deemed important to achieve an ideal learning outcome. Al-Suyuti, an wellversed expert in Hadith, assert special skills which should be possessed by a teacher. This research analyzed (1) teacher’s competency model in accordance Al-Suyuti and (2) pedagogic competence, personal competence, social competence, and professional competence according to Al-Suyuti.This research used an analytical descripstive method. The results of reseach show that according to Al-Suyuti, teachers sholud have a good manners, correct intentions, reach the age of accountability, dress accordingly, use a good teaching method, teach based on students’ skills and age, understand students’ circumstances, be humble, and implement fair and reliable assesments. Later, each competency is classified based on the pedagogic competence, personal comptence, social competence,and professional competence.
