Abstract

Michal Romer (Mykolas Romeris 1880-1945) was a famous Polish-Lithuanian lawyer, journalist and activist. He wrote monumental diaries in 30. volumes. He described in them the reality of the tsarist Russia (Kovno and Vilna Governorates), World War I, the civil war in Russia, the struggle for independence of Poland and the Polish-Lithuanian conflict. He also presented everyday life and his personal affairs. He served in the Polish Legions and as a lawyer, after the release from the camp for soldiers in Szczypiorno, he was involved in work in the judiciary. He chose the function of judge of peace in north Mazovian region, in Kurpie District, in small town Kolno. He lived there from 14 September 1917 to 13 November 1918. He described public and everyday life of the city and region’s inhabitants.
