Knowledge-Oriented Leadership for Tourist Guidance Professions

Abstract

Combining the dimensions of knowledge-oriented leadership and tourist guidance, this chapter unequivocally renders that tourist guides could be treated as KOLs, provided that they are conscious of the value of knowledge and interpretation. A conceptual analysis was made in order to highlight a thorough comprehension of knowledge-oriented tourist guidance. Accordingly, knowledge-oriented leadership and its relationship with tourist guidance, the profession of tourist guidance and the relevance of the knowledge provided in tourist guidance, and knowledge-based leadership responsibilities of tourist guides were emphasized. This study advances the body of knowledge by demonstrating the necessity of knowledge-based tourist guidance. The researchers asserted that this chapter could benefit leaders in the hospitality and tourism industries as well as the tourist guides who stress the value of knowledge for professional development, employing it as a leadership tool while delivering tours.
