Abstract

This paper describes lessons learned from a more than 20-year involvement in formal, remunerated farmer extension and advisory work by individuals from a large commercial veterinary practice in the North Island of New Zealand. The additional skills required by veterinarians interested in undertaking extension delivery work are highlighted, as are upcoming opportunities within the New Zealand sheep industry to be involved in such work.
