Abstract

Background: Hookah smoking has been increasing in the past few years in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and becoming a public health concern. The objective of the study was to assess the knowledge, practices and reasons of hookah smoking among UAE residents. Methods: A cross-sectional study design used a structured and validated self-administered survey. Results: Out of 420 individuals who participated in the study, 54.5% (n = 229) were males.
