Abstract

This paper investigated if participating in a virtual community of practice (VCoP) would influence faculty’s knowledge contribution, knowledge seeking, and the development of a knowledge repository. The research problem in this study would be of theoretical interest by comparing knowledge seeking, knowledge contribution, and developing a repository of knowledge by group (experimental and control group). The research method was a quasi-experimental design study. The results of the study are beneficial in extending the body of knowledge by quantitatively validating the importance of VCoP in knowledge seeking and contribution. Results of the study brought forward recommendations for future research, such as expanding the focus of the research to include measuring the quality of the knowledge transfer, impact of information and communications technologies (ICTs), etc.
