Abstract

Spatial data mining mainly includes the process of extracting implicit knowledge, spatial relationships and the meaningful features or patterns from spatial database. The operation and management of power system consist of a large amount of spatial information, and the spatial data mining provides a powerful tool to process the massive spatial data. This paper discusses the spatial data mining technology, its characteristics, structures, methods and the kinds of knowledge that can be discovered from spatial databases. Considering the characteristics of power system, the application of spatial data mining in the operation and management of transmission line images is presented. The goal of this paper is to provide a new way to the economic operation and rational decision-making of power systems. Finally, this paper gives the future development for the spatial data mining technology.
