Abstract
The paper explores the role of practical knowledge in building knowledge communities for inclusive stability within a developmental context. It deals with the issue of the integration of scientific knowledge of the research community and tacit knowledge of the user community in making effective use of technological innovations. This integration transcends the 'cause-effect' perspective of automatic control systems and envisions international stability through building symbiotic collaborations between scientists, practitioners, interlocutors, and communities involved in the inclusive development process. The discussion draws upon three partnership programmes as illustrative examples of knowledge communities.
