Abstract
The name “intelligent controls” was first coined by K.S. Fu in 1971 [13]. Intelligent control was then defined as the field of interaction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Automatic Control Systems. Most of the initial attempts made to formalize intelligent controls into a unique scientific discipline, failed, due to the fact that one of the two contributing disciplines dominated the other.
