Knowledge, attitude, and practices about Bio-Medical Waste management across Dentists, Dental students and Auxiliary Staff among main cities and towns in Saudi Arabia

Abstract

A lot of studies on awareness about Biomedical waste across the country was unsatisfactory however, unsuitable differentiation and disposal of BMW and mixing it with local waste could exposed the health care employed to microorganisms. The aim of the presented study to assess awareness regarding biomedical waste management as well as knowledge of effective recycling and reused of dental materials across Dentists, Dental students and Auxiliary Staff among main cities and towns in Saudi Arabia to informed the development of future guidelines for effective implementation of BMW rules.A descriptive cross-sectional study has been conducted in a several dental treatment facilities. It was included the College of Dentistry, government dental specialty treatment hospitals and private specialty dental clinics in main cities and towns in Saudi Arabia.Simple random sampling method by asked for volunteers until of each had been attaining conducted between August 2017 and November 2017 The electronic questionnaire will be applied among the staff members dental students, dentists and auxiliary staff were asked to complete it without discussed their answers with anyone. The results of this study has demonstrated that despite having knowledge, there is still defect in the day to day practice of BM Waste, this could be because lack of training regarding the subject or could be because of no strict laws regarding the same. It is hereby required that increasing awareness regarding BMW and BMW collection and segregation should be taught and implemented at an early level so as to notice a positive change.
