Abstract

Introduction: The stomach and small intestines are protected against the irritating acids produced in the stomach. If this protective lining stops working effectively and the lining breaks down, it results in inflammation or an ulcer. Ulcer happens when the lining of the stomach get damaged and the acid in the stomach goes through the damaged lining to the tissue underneath10 Objectives of the Study 1. To assess the pretest level of knowledge regarding lifestyle induced ulcer and its management among degree students. 2. To assess the pretest level of attitude regarding lifestyle induced ulcer and its management among degree students 3. To assess the posttest level of knowledge regarding lifestyle induced ulcer and its management among degree students. 9 4. To assess the posttest level of attitude regarding lifestyle induced ulcer and its management among degree students 5. To determine the association between posttest level of knowledge and attitude regarding lifestyle induced ulcer and its management with the demographic variables. 6. To determine the effectiveness of informational booklet on knowledge and attitude regarding lifestyle induced ulcer and its management. Methods: Pre experimental one group pretest posttest design was used. The setting of the study was in degree college. The sample include 60-degree students, selected using convenience sampling technique. Information booklet was provided for the participants. A structured questioner was used to assess the knowledge regarding lifestyle induced ulcer and its management and Likert scale was used to assess the attitude. Results: The mean post test score for knowledge and attitude was significantly higher than the pre test scores, showing the effectiveness of the information booklet. Findings related to the effectiveness of informational booklet the obtained „t‟ value 20.59 and 17.54 were greater than the table value at the degree of freedom 59 and was found to be significant at the level of 5% (0.05). Conclusion: The informational booklet was effective in increasing the knowledge and attitude of degree students regarding lifestyle induced ulcer and its management.
