Abstract

Abstract Artificial Intelligence has gained so much popularity and its vast variety of application is already being witnessed by us but some specific Artificial Intelligence system requires knowledge over a particular subject in detail which is called knowledge-based system. This knowledge-based system requires knowledge in a systematic way that requires structuring, organizing, and storing knowledge in a way such that machine can have an application such as an expert system that is used for the query, a suggestion in decision making. This leads us to a broader concept and it is one of the bottlenecks of these AI systems called Knowledge Acquisition as acquiring knowledge for the AI system has always been a pretty tight case because only accurate knowledge can build a precise system. This paper covers the basic aspects of Knowledge Acquisition such as definition, techniques and various other aspects and terms related to it. This paper provides a basic idea about how knowledge is acquired from field experts differently and organized and arranged for the knowledge-based systems. The primary motivation behind this paper has been to understand the various complexion and implications related to the knowledge Acquisition technique in a relatively easier and understandable form. At the end of this paper, one will be familiar with the terms, techniques, and various processes involved. Keywords: Knowledge Acquisition, Knowledge Representation, Expert System, Artificial intelligence, Intelligent System
