Abstract
Background: Mucormycosis is a life-threatening infection caused by fungi of the order Mucorales. Recent reclassification has abolished the order Zygomycetes and placed the order Mucorales in the subphylum Mucormycotina. Therefore, we refer to infection caused by Mucorales as mucormycosis, rather than zygomycosis. Our aims & objectives was to understand the knowledge of treatmetn modalities of different postgraduates students who deal with ocular mucormycosis cases. Material & Methods: A google online questionnaire method was used to perform this original study. Link was send via different digital media platforms to post graduate residents of Ophthalmology, Plastic Surgery, General Surgery and Maxillofacial Surgery of different colleges. Results: Total 221 students participated in the study including 65 students of ophthalmology, 42 students of plastic surgery, 52 students of general surgery and 62 students of maxillofacial surgery. When asked about different interventions of ocular mucormycosis Ophthalmology PGs had taken the lead followed by plastic surgery the general surgery and then maxillofacial surgery postgraduates.
