Abstract

The problem of studying meson (K) parity using dispersion relations for the forward K/sup +/-p scattering amplitude (Amati's approach) is discussed. It was shown by Amati that if the cross section ( sigma /sup +/) of K/sup +/-p scattering at low energy is assumed to be constant, there is evidence for a pseudoscalar K with respect to both LAMBDA and SIGMA hyperons. In this paper, however, the possibility of a scalar or pseudoscalar K with respect to both LAMBDA and SIGMA hyperons was found to be excluded for the case of nonconstant sigma /sup +/. The effects of unphysical region contributions were studied and found to be negligible. (D.L.C.)
