Abstract

This chapter explains eschatology of the prophets of the Old Testament and their transformation inexilic and post-exilic period. Eschatology is an issue that is one of the hottest topics in the current theological work. This chapter first briefly describes the understanding of eschatology. After that, it shows the correct interpretation of selected texts precisely. The chapter shows the profound consequence of the realization and the position of the eschatology in the overall structure of Jahwism. The description of the essence of eschatology as a break with the past and his brand new is independent of time categories - which shifted the focus away from the traditional terms initially Last Judgement, Resurrection and Eternal life.
